1. Using the game
These terms cover every version of Ultimate Spelling Battle ("the game"): Android (Google Play), iPhone and iPad (App Store) and the Apple Watch companion. By playing you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the game. The game is for everyone. Players under 13 should play with a parent's or guardian's permission; for them the game turns off photos, typed names and personalised ads, and asks a grown-up before any purchase or link out of the app.
2. Your player name and photo
Names, country flags and photos are shown to other players on leaderboards and in battles. Pick a friendly name and a photo you are happy to share, and only use a photo you have the right to use. We may replace names or remove photos that are rude, unsafe or impersonate someone. Photos are checked automatically before others see them. Long-press a player on a leaderboard to report their name or photo, or to hide them.
3. Fair play
Play fairly. Cheating, modified apps, bots, exploiting bugs or farming scores against yourself are not allowed. We may remove scores, reset progress or block accounts that break these rules.
4. Honeycombs, hint coins and outfits
Honeycombs, hint coins, Bumble's outfits and other items are in-game items. You get a licence to use them in the game; you don't own them. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money or transferred to other players, and may be adjusted if the game's economy changes. Items gained through bugs, refunds or chargebacks may be removed.
5. Purchases
Purchases are made through Google Play on Android or the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and follow that store's terms and refund policy (Google Play's or Apple's). The same items are offered on both: Remove Ads, VIP, Honeycomb packs and hint-coin packs. We check every purchase with the store on our server. A purchase belongs to the store account you bought it with, so Remove Ads and VIP come back with "Restore purchases" in Settings on the same kind of device. Use it too if something you bought is missing. Where your local consumer law gives you rights that can't be excluded, nothing in these terms takes them away.
6. Ads
Free players see ads. Remove Ads or VIP turns them off. On iPhone and iPad the game never asks to track you, so ads there are not personalised. The Apple Watch app has no ads.
7. Computer players
When no one is free to battle, computer players fill the empty seats so a match can start. They play like real opponents and can win or lose rating points.
8. Daily Fortune Wheel
Spins are free: one a day, plus a bonus spin after a video ad. Spins can't be bought, and prizes are in-game items only. The chance of each prize is shown in the game.
9. Online features
Online battles, leaderboards and the Global Spelling Battle need an internet connection and may change, pause or end. We try to keep them running but can't promise they are always available.
10. Your content and our content
The game, its words, definitions, art, characters and sounds belong to DamTech Designs or its licensors. You may not copy, sell or redistribute them. You keep the rights to your photo; by uploading it you let us show it to other players in the game until you remove it or delete your account.
11. Your privacy and your account
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and all its data at any time in Settings → Delete my account & data, or on the web at spellingbattle.com/delete-account.
12. The game as it is
We work hard to make the game fun and correct, but it is provided as it is, without guarantees that it is error-free or always available. To the extent the law allows, DamTech Designs isn't liable for indirect losses from using the game.
13. Changes
We may update these terms and will change the date above. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
